“Give thanks for unknown blessings already on their way.”
(
Native American saying
)

Because we are so grateful for you, and because we love sharing our quirky sense of fun – here is a quickie snapshot of what the DCJ crew is thankful for this holiday eve:

“Our incredible clients (who are also our friends) ~ chocolate ~ dogs ~ the Ashland Community ~ family ~ pumpkin-spiced anything ~ the kick-ass DCJ support team ~ jeans that fit ~ cream cheese danish ~ Yootheme ~ alternative rock ~ good red wine ~ bamboo plants ~ tap water that tastes great ~ taxes ~ tax returns ~ bad red wine ~ ham ~ hula hoops ~ mentos ~ my amazing kids ~ the L.A. Angels & Mike Scioscia ~ lint rollers ~ Pandora ~ beer ~ the view from the balcony ~ white chocolate mochas ~ Papelbon signing with the Phillies ~ my Mac ~ laughter ~ toast that lands butter-side up ~ the DCJ “shop puppy” Hunter ~ life!”

Bringing New Clients to Your Business

by Martha Phelps
November 21st, 2011

How do you get customers to knock on your door? If you’re tired of having an employee stand out front on the street dressed like a giant rubberized  (fill in noun here) waving at passersby, consider a few of these strategies for building clientele.

Invite them get to know your company.
People feel safer about doing business with someone they’ve heard of or at least someone who appears to know what they’re doing. If you are consistently blowing away clients with positive results and amazing content, then eventually your company becomes the word on the street. This is why social media is so groovy. It increases your presence and exposure.

(The corollary to #1) Take time to get to know your clients .
Who are they and what do they want? How well do you know your target audience? Ask for feedback, LISTEN to feedback, and show customers you know them. And yes, tweet, Like and plus+ them, too.

DCJ New & Improved!

by Martha Phelps
November 14th, 2011

A month ago, Dotcomjungle brought two brand new interns on staff. They are not only exceptional learners and practitioners in the web design and development profession, they are damned fine human beings. They are both open-hearted, imaginative, inquisitive, saucy, confident, careful – but not afraid and truly nice without being sticky sweet. We like ‘em, and want to brag about how cool Jamie Sndhurst and Julian Sherr really are.

B.D.V. on Sales

November 7th, 2011

For those of us contemplating how and why to sell, James Altucher’s recent post “How To Sell Your Company” offers wise and worthy information. Here’s a quick DCJ boiled down version (B.D.V.) of Altrucher’s submission on Techcrunch.

Mr. Altrucher starts by pointing out the fundamental differences between selling and negotiating goals. “When you’re a salesman you want the other guy to say ‘yes.’ When you’re a negotiator you have to be willing to say ‘no’, regardless of what the other side says. So although they aren’t total opposites, the goals are completely different. But big picture: Negotiation is worthless. Sales is everything.” He argues that while negotiating might lead to successes, they also might not. There are no guarantees. No amount of spent time, energy, good will and money will necessarily make a negotiation a sale.
